A GIS browser for Swiss parcels and buildings
geopool is a map-first GIS browser for Swiss geodata. It shows parcels and buildings as map layers over swisstopo basemaps, so analysts, architects and developers can move from a town overview down to a single parcel in a few clicks.
Browse the map layers
- Fade the parcel and building layers with opacity sliders
- Color parcels by unused building volume, building volume ratio, site coverage ratio or plot size
- Filter residential parcels by single-unit or multi-unit
- Switch buildings between 2D, Volumes and Detailed, which streams swisstopo swissBUILDINGS3D models with real roof shapes
- Choose a streets, satellite or swisstopo basemap
Inspect a parcel
Click any parcel or building to open its detail panel: address, EGRID, parcel area, zoning and utilization, building footprint, 3D volume and height, noise, travel times and taxes. Building footprints come from the cadastral survey; volumes come from 3D reconstruction where available, otherwise they are estimated.
Keep and share your work
- Copy a link to the current view or parcel
- Save an image of the map
- Sign in to track parcels with a state, priority and comments, and export your saved parcels to CSV
Parcel statistics by canton and municipality
How many parcels a municipality has, how many of them are built, how they split across zones and how old the buildings are: the parcel statistics for Switzerland lead to every canton and municipality.
Frequently asked questions
Which data does geopool show?
Parcel boundaries and building footprints from the cadastral survey (AV), building volumes and heights, zoning and utilization, noise, travel times and taxes, on swisstopo, street or satellite basemaps.
Do I need an account to use geopool?
No. You can browse the map and open parcel details without signing in. An account is only needed to track parcels, add comments and export your saved parcels to CSV.
How do I open a specific parcel?
Type an address, street or town into the search bar, or click the parcel on the map. The link in the address bar then carries the parcel's EGRID, so you can share it and it opens the same parcel.
Where does geopool's data come from?
Parcels and footprints come from the official cadastral survey (AV), register details from the Federal Register of Buildings and Dwellings (GWR), 3D buildings from swisstopo swissBUILDINGS3D and 3D reconstruction, and noise from the federal sonBASE model. The data sources page lists every layer.
What is an EGRID?
The EGRID is the federal parcel identifier, a code such as CH123456789012 that every Swiss parcel has. It stays the same when the parcel number or address changes, which is why geopool uses it in parcel links.
Are the zoning figures in geopool binding?
No. Utilization ratios, maximum volumes and unused building volume are estimates derived from the zone rules and the measured buildings, meant for comparing parcels. The municipal building regulations and the building authority decide what may be built.
