How geopool works
geopool is used in three steps: find a place, open a parcel, then keep or share what you found. No account is needed for the first two.
1. Find a place
Type an address, street, town or municipality into the search bar and pick a result. The map flies to it. You can also pan and zoom freely, or use the locate button to start from where you are.
2. Read the map
- Parcels are drawn from the cadastral survey (AV). Color them by unused building volume, building volume ratio, site coverage ratio or plot size to spot patterns across a neighborhood.
- Buildings switch between 2D footprints, Volumes (extruded by height) and Detailed, which shows swisstopo 3D models with real roof shapes.
- Basemaps: streets, satellite or the swisstopo national map.
- Opacity sliders fade parcels and buildings so the basemap stays readable.
3. Open a parcel
Click a parcel or building. The detail panel shows the address and EGRID, parcel area, zoning and utilization, building footprint, volume and height, road and railway noise, travel times to the nearest agglomeration center, and income tax rates for typical households at that location.
4. Keep and share
- Copy a link to the current view or parcel, or show it as a QR code
- Save an image of the map
- Sign in to track parcels with a state, priority and comments, and export them to CSV
Where the figures come from is listed on the data sources page. Terms such as EGRID or site coverage ratio are explained in the glossary.
Frequently asked questions
Does geopool cover all of Switzerland?
The map, search and parcel boundaries cover the whole country. Some parcel details, such as zoning ratios or 3D building volumes, depend on the data each canton and dataset provides, so a field can be empty for a given parcel.
Can I link someone to a parcel?
Yes. After you open a parcel, the address bar carries its coordinates and EGRID. Copy the link or use the share button, and the recipient opens the same parcel and view.
Can I use geopool on a phone?
Yes. The map, search and parcel panel work on phones and tablets, and the map settings fold into a compact sheet on small screens.
