The canton of Zug ranks 20th of the 22 cantons with largely complete parcel data by total parcel area. Of its 9 municipalities with parcel data, Zug (4’283), Baar (3’973) and Cham (2’883) have the most parcels, which together hold 55.4% of the canton's parcels in the data.

The canton is more built-up than Switzerland as a whole: 68.7% of its parcels have a building, against 52% nationwide. Among its municipalities with at least 500 parcels, Steinhausen has the highest share of built parcels (76.8%) and Menzingen the lowest (55.2%).
